CBD for an Energy Boost

What’s the number one reason we love CBD? It’s versatile. It is plant-powered fuel: to help us get the day started when we need a boost and to wind down when we need a little more calm.

But with CBD at the forefront of our morning and night routines, it’s easy to wonder: how can CBD do both?

What is energy?

Now that question seems pretty juvenile, but really, it is key to understanding how CBD works in our bodies. We know what energy feels like, but where does it come from and why do we need it?

For starters, we know that we have more energy (not to mention, better mood and overall well being) if we get a good night’s sleep. That’s because sleep essentially recharges and resets us so that our brains can function at the highest level possible. We all know the groggy feeling after a bad night’s sleep and definitely wouldn’t call that energized.

Besides recharging from sleep, energy also comes from what we put in our bodies. Coffee may be the first thing that comes to many people’s minds, as it is often the first thing we reach for to give us that little boost to get the day started. In fact, CBD and coffee are quite an excellent pair.

But what about food? If you recall from science class, your body breaks down carbohydrates into glucose. Glucose, or blood sugar, is the main source of energy for your body's cells, tissues, and organs. And voila- energy!

So how does this all relate to CBD? First and foremost, CBD is yet another thing you are putting into your body. So similar to how food and coffee are creating all of these reactions in your brain and body, so too is CBD.

But enough about carbohydrates, let’s get to the nitty gritty of how exactly CBD synthesizes in the body. It has to do with something called the Endocannabinoid System.

CBD is believed to influence the Endocannabinoid System which is responsible for all kinds of important functions within the body, including sleep, mood, appetite, and immune function. It is believed that CBD ultimately influences the endocannabinoid system to help support balance in your body. Sounds great, right?

Similar to how carbohydrates you eat turn into fuel for your mind and body and make you feel more energized, so too does CBD in it’s own way.

In low doses CBD can act as a mild stimulant, while in high doses it can act as a sedative.

From the moment CBD enters your body it begins to bind with receptors. These receptors produce serotonin and are commonly known to regulate basic fear and anxiety related behaviors. By binding to these specific receptors, CBD can support normal mood and energy fluctuations and an overall sense of well being. In this way, CBD and other cannabinoids help the ECS achieve homeostasis, or overall balance.

Because if you think about it, feeling at peace goes hand in hand with putting our best energy forward. Because when you feel better, life is better!

If you’re ready to try CBD in the morning and want to know the best ways…

Lucky for you, CBD drops can be added to almost anything - recipes, drinks, teas, shakes - you name it. But depending on the results you are trying to achieve, there is a best way to take CBD and different products that will help you get to your desired results.

If you’re looking for a quick energy boost:

We recommend a small dose of 10-20mg under your tongue. Now you may be wondering, why would I put CBD oil directly under my tongue if you just mentioned all of the other things it could be put into?

Great question. When taken sublingually, CBD oil absorbs into your bloodstream quicker. Normally people feel this slight boost in energy and concentration after about 10 minutes to an hour. So if you are looking for quick results, taking it sublingually is your best bet.

If you’re looking for more sustained focus:

Mixing CBD drops into your morning cup of coffee, smoothie, or tea is another great option.

Not only will your body love the caffeine and calories from the drink, but it will also get a little boost from the CBD. Plus, CBD is also believed to help balance out the jitters, anxiousness, and stomach ache often associated with caffeine.

When put into drinks, the oil is digested and takes a bit longer to absorb into the body than with taking sublinguilly. Most people experience effects after about an hour and can linger for up to six hours. So if you are looking for more sustained concentration and focus for a longer period of time, putting some CBD drops in your morning cup is your best option.
